Am I the only one that is sick of hearing musical (or other inane garbage) ringtones? This happens quite often that I’ll hear a phone ringing, and instead of picking up the phone, the person will let it ring a while so they can listen to whatever garbage they have as their ringtone. Whatever happened to a simple buzz or vibrate? Hell, I don’t even know what the ringtone on my phone sounds like because I’ve never even used it. And, why wouldn’t you pick up the damn phone when it’s ringing?
Okay, rant over.
Ariel Nomad for your time.

My cell has not rung in 4 years. This is how I like it. I do have alarms, but ringer is always on silent. On the other end of the spectrum, I have a friend who uses a white noise ringtone, because the white noise makes it much easier for the brain to locate the point source quickly. She’s an acoustical engineer and kinda badass like that. Works like a miracle.

But mine is an old Ferrari V12 running through the gears... can you blame me?

I haven’t heard a ringtone since middle school. AKA 10 years ago. I thought they were just a fad!? Everyone I know just leaves it on vibrate.

I put mine on vibrate for the sake of my song choices for ringtones are not appropriate around kids

I don’t like to just leave my phone on vibrate because I don’t feel it vibrate a lot if it’s in my pocket, and if I am at home then it’s usually on the nightstand in my bedroom while I’m in another room. My grandma is 84, often home alone, and won’t text so I am paranoid she’ll need to call me in the event something is wrong.
That being said, my ringtone is just a guitar playing. Fairly simple. And I always try to answer it quickly!

Tell people who go to my gym this. Or wander around a retail establishment. It SHOULD have been a fad. But it never went away.

And that I'm okay with. I don't even necessarily mind that people have a ringer on. But I don't need to hear half of Freebird before someone picks up their damn phone.

I’m the same way. I also don’t know what my ringtone is because I don’t use it ever.

That’s acceptable, provided you pick up the phone relatively quickly and don't listen to it for 3 minutes.

I will start listening for them lol. I don’t think I’ve noticed one for years

My “ringtone” is called Old Phone. And that’s exactly what it sounds like. It rings like a damned phone. At least you’re not having to listen to that awful old Nokia ringtone.

My phone is only ever on vibrate or silent. I don’t even know what my ring is

I'm so conditioned that a vibrating phone on my desk will wake me up, I'll sleep through an actual ring tone.

I have an older lady coworker, who always has a song ringtone, that is left at full volume, and it normally takes a good 30 seconds for her to get to her phone after it rings (unless she’s not at her desk, and it just goes...). For the first two years I worked here, it was “Jesus Take The Wheel”. Now it’s “All About That Bass”.
I hate the world.

ok, but you haven’t heard mine, nor seen the pure joy on my kids face when it rings :P It’s the Gravity Falls theme song.
and my text message tone is a blowoff valve :D
although... nearly 90% of the time my phone is on silent. Only on ring when I’m at home. If its in my pocket or at work its silent.

I’d hate the world too.

My ring tone is, or rather was the theme to doctor who until I did a hard reset of my phone yesterday, and my text tone was the tardis noise

Back when this was a fad I had a dial up modem sound as my ringtone, I thought it was very ironic and that I was cool.

The times I use an audible ringtone are few; nowadays it’s only when I’m waiting for someone coming to my place, since the ringer for my building goes to my cell phone (since I don’t have a landline). It’s one of the Android defaults on the Nexus 5, but even when it rings I find it pleasant relative to the old style phone ringer noise or using a song as a ringtone.
Otherwise, it's on vibrate the whole time.

I hate ring tones. I have my phone on vibrate. The motor is loud enough for me to hear.

Now thinking back, what do you think? Lol

So it’s cool it drives everyone crazy? Why would you want to annoy all your coworkers (besides obvious reasons)?

The usual retrospective thoughts, “those were the times, what was I thinking, and I regret nothing” usually in that order. haha
